DESCRIPTION

TitleThe new C.F.B.B. Fire Station, 2 October 1928AcknowledgementDonated by Bruce PetrieDescriptionThe first brick of this station was laid on 10 January 1928, and the building was officially opened in April 1928 by Captain Chellow, Chief Officer of the Country Fire Brigades Board (C.F.B.B.).
The station featured a two-bay engine room with sliding doors, allowing a meeting room to be partitioned off at the rear, as well as a kitchen and bedroom for the Station Keeper's use. Pictured to the left of the station is the bell tower, an iron structure fashioned from a former windmill stand. From 1896 until 1951, the New Year was welcomed by the enthusiastic ringing of this bell.Date2 Oct. 1928LanguageEnglishAccess restrictionsNormal copyright restrictions apply
