Oral history of Frankston from the early 1900’s to 1950
History
This oral history project was initiated by the Frankston City Libraries in 1984. It was sponsored by the Frankston City Council as a part of the Community Employment Programme. Fifty-eight interviews were conducted with local residents over a period of 26 weeks.
These interviews can be accessed via the link in the Oral History section or via the Person or Family name of the interviewee. The interviews were originally recorded on cassette and vary in length. In many cases the interview spans multiple sides of a cassette. Each side of the casette has been digitised as a separate recording.
The Frankston City Libraries also published Fishing, Sand and Village Days which is a thematic presentation of these interviews.
